Brushing Out Service

Save my hair!

Sometimes we want to brush some dreads out so we can have a fringe again or maybe you’ve decided you don’t want dreadlocks any longer! Either is fine, and you don’t have to cut your dreadlocks off if you want to save your hair.

All dreadlock services cost £20 an hour but depending on how much you want to have undone, this can take a while. I have worked round the clock before to complete a job shown in the pictures and would happily do it again. To keep the cost down for you, I can show you and anyone else how to undo the dreadlocks, so we can work together to get the job done faster, minimising the cost for you.

On the day before we brush them out, wash your hair and use a nice creamy conditioning treatment. Make sure the hair is completely dry before the appointment.

Never try to brush out dreadlocks whilst wet or damp as the hair will stretch and break. When brushing out, I start from the bottom of each dreadlock using a broken crotchet hook, gently pulling downwards to undo the tiny knots. If there is too much resistance, stop and reinsert the broken hook lower down. I do this slowly and gently to minimise damage to the hair.

It is worth remembering that we naturally shed around 100 hairs every day, so if you have had dreadlocks a while, quite a lot of loose hair will come out! some people who worry they have thin hair (like me) might find this upsetting, so if you want I can take the loose hair home with me and send it back to you dreadlocked on clips to wear when you fancy!
